What are cookies?
As clarified by the Privacy Guarantor in the FAQs of December 2012, cookies are “small text files” – made up of letters and numbers – “that the sites visited by the user send to their terminal (usually to the browser), where they are stored to then be retransmitted to the same sites upon the next visit by the same user.” Cookies serve to streamline the analysis of web traffic or to signal when a specific site or part of it is visited, to distinguish between visitors in order to provide personalized content, and help administrators improve the site and the users’ browsing experience. Through cookies we cannot access other information stored on your device, even though this is where cookies are downloaded. Cookies cannot load any type of code, carry viruses or malware, and are not harmful to the user’s terminal.
Below you can find all the information about the cookies installed through this site, and the necessary instructions on how to manage your preferences regarding them.
User consent to the use of cookies
When accessing any page of the Site for the first time, the user will see an informational banner about the use of cookies, which will allow them to manage their installation preferences (consent).
The site remembers the choice made by the user, so the brief notice will not be shown again on subsequent visits from the same device. However, the user always has the option to revoke, in whole or in part, the consent already given.
If you encounter technical problems related to giving consent, please contact us through the appropriate channels provided on this site so that we can assist you.
Cookie duration
Cookies can be:
session cookies, cookies that are persistently stored on the user's computer and are deleted when the browser is closed, are strictly limited to the transmission of session identifiers necessary to allow safe and efficient browsing of the site, avoiding the use of other IT techniques that could potentially compromise the confidentiality of users' browsing;
persistent, cookies that remain stored on the computer's hard drive until they expire or are deleted by users/visitors. Through persistent cookies, visitors who access the site (or any other users who use the same computer) are automatically recognized on each visit. Visitors can set their computer browser to accept/reject all cookies or display a warning each time a cookie is offered, so they can decide whether to accept it or not. The user can, in any case, change the default configuration and disable cookies (i.e., block them permanently) by setting the highest level of protection.
Types of cookies
Cookies can be:
first-party, i.e. cookies that list this website as their domain;
third-party, that is, cookies that are related to external domains.
Third-party cookies are necessarily installed by an external entity, always defined as a "third party," not managed by the site. Another type of cookie is the so-called "Flash Cookie" (Local Shared Objects), used within Adobe Flash Player to deliver certain content, such as video clips or animations, in order to remember settings and preferences. Flash cookies are stored on the device, but are managed through a different interface than the one provided by the browser used.
We also use Facebook pixel technology, a (third-party) tool consisting of a small programming code inserted into our site, which allows us to collect statistical data, monitor actions taken by visitors on our site, and create custom audience groups to show our ads to, as well as take advantage of many other related features.
Nature of cookies
Regarding the nature of cookies, there are different types:
- Technical cookies: these are those used solely for the purpose of "carrying out the transmission of a communication over an electronic communications network, or to the extent strictly necessary for the provider of an information society service explicitly requested by the subscriber or user to provide that service" (see Art. 122, paragraph 1, of the Code).
They are not used for further purposes and are normally installed directly by the owner or manager of the website. They can be divided into:
navigation or session cookies, which ensure normal browsing and use of the website (allowing, for example, purchases to be made or authentication to access reserved areas); they are in fact necessary for the proper functioning of the site;
analytics cookies, assimilated to technical cookies when used directly by the site manager to collect information, in aggregate form, on the number of users and how they visit the site itself, in order to improve the site's performance;
functionality cookies, which allow the user to navigate according to a series of selected criteria (for example, language, products selected for purchase) in order to improve the service provided. The installation of these cookies does not require the prior consent of users (more information in the Cookie Management paragraph below).
- Profiling cookies: these are aimed at creating user profiles and are used to send advertising messages in line with the preferences expressed by the user while browsing the web. The use of profiling cookies requires the consent of the data subject. In the case of third-party cookies, the site does not have direct control over the individual cookies and cannot control them (it can neither install them directly nor delete them). However, you can manage these cookies through your browser settings (follow the instructions provided below), or the sites indicated in the "Cookie Management" section.
Cookies present on this site
This website uses cookies. We use cookies to personalize content and ads, to provide social media features, and to analyze our traffic.
Some cookies are instead placed by third-party services that appear on our pages. This site has no control over cookies that are entirely managed by third parties and does not have access to the information collected through these cookies. Information on the use of third-party cookies and their purposes, as well as on how to disable them if necessary, is provided directly by the third parties on their own websites.
It should be noted that, generally, user tracking does not involve user identification, unless the User is already registered for the service and is also already logged in, in which case it is understood that the User has already given their consent directly to the third party at the time of registration for the relevant service (e.g. Facebook, Pinterest, etc.).
Cookie disabling
The user can refuse the use of cookies and at any time can revoke consent already given. Since cookies are linked to the browser used, they can be disabled directly from the browser, thus refusing/revoking consent to the use of cookies.
